
Jo Nagasaka : Schemata Architecture Office Ltd. "ARCHITECTURE TOKYO 2009" participated exhibition
This summer we will host an exhibition by Jo Nagasaka: Schemata Architecture Office Ltd.
This exhibition will present a new type of hotel in a mixed-use gallery Happa. It will host a multi-shops space:
a bookstore(by Utrecht),a café (by Yoko Shimada), Happa art work by Shinya Aota within the hotel for a new type of hospitality.
The hotel design; collaboration between multidisciplinary group of design team includes paint finish by Shuhei Nakamura, light design by Izumi Okayasu and fabric design by Mihoko Mori.
How a concept of the “Hotel" presents in the existing gallery, office and atelier space of Happa.

Born in 1971, Jo Nagasaka graduated from Tokyo Art University with Architecture degree.
In the same year of 1998 established Schemata Architecture Office Ltd.In 2007, the office moved to current warehouse. 4m high ceiling with minimum finish of shikkui paint realized new type of studio/office space that is opening to Komazawa Street. In 2007, Sayama Flat a renovation of apartment won the 2nd prize in Bauhaus award. In this project, no drawings are prepared for the project. Instead design improvisation was tested on site, preserving some existing walls and demolitions the rest. Another design approach was presented in a renovation project, NADiff. By accepting the existing context and amplifying and reducing the context, dub mix design was completed.
